Joe Tempel was born in Virginia, raised in New Jersey, worked in Colorado and retired to Pawleys Island 7 years ago.  Joe worked for the Colorado Department of Transportation for 28 years in planning and environmental analysis.  He founded a nonprofit organization, Friends of Dinosaur Ridge, and became its Executive Director for 15 years.  The Friends managed a natural area that had dinosaur bones and tracks in the rock.  When he started it was just a wide spot in the road.  Now over 250,000 people tour Dinosaur Ridge and learn about the natural history of the area at two Visitor Centers.  Joe has volunteered with The Outreach Farm for 3 years and helped write grants and volunteered at public events.  He is excited about becoming a board member.
